Meet the Cape Town Committee SUGSA
I love agile and have been a practitioner for over 10 years. My passion is product owners and product management. I believe product ownership is one of the most critical and difficult roles in agile, sadly also one of the most neglected roles. I would like to encourage more people to consider product roles as a career option and also companies to get a deeper understanding of the role.
I’ve been working as a scrum master for a few years now and what I really enjoy is learning and exploring new ideas and ways of working from the people around me. My favourite part of the job is finding creative ways of helping others and allowing them to help themselves. I hope I’ll always have the courage to be brave
As a member of the committee I recognise the need for a safe place to sound out new ideas, learn from experts and fail fast with like minded evangelists.
The path towards agile fluency is a journey we are all travelling along at different paces, it’s nice to share that road with other people so we can have great conversations.
I love how agile has learning and adaption embedded in its fabric, how teams are seen as people and not resources and how the customer is given a significant presence. However, above all, I deeply value how agile encourages vulnerability and courage, key ingredients for fulfilment and innovation.
I am very passionate about anything to do with Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban & Lean) & working with people to create high performing teams. What inspires me is being able to share my passion & ignite an enthusiasm for agile in others & inspire them to embark on their agile journeys too. I am interested in coaching, facilitation & how to scale effectively within the organisation.
I took naturally to Agile as a way of thinking about developing software. Especially the concepts of inspect and adapt, lean thinking and so on. But there is so much more than that and I have lots to learn about being agile. I hope to make a contribution to this movement.
I am in the business of helping others to become better, to find the small things they are proud of and multiply it by 10x. “Nothing exalts the soul or gives it a sheer sense of buoyancy and victory so much as being used to change the lives of other people.” – E. Stanley Jones
