Git Workshop

90 minutes *hands on introductory level

Description:

If your team is releasing software regularly and not using a distributed version control system (DVCS) then this workshop is for you. Git is a popular DVCS that enables fantastic new ways of working with a team, regardless if they are across the table or across the world. In this session we will give a hands on introduction to those who have never used Git before.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of distributed version control
  • Be able to understand and use Git at an entry level
  • See the opportunities that it opens up for you and your team

Audience:

Developers, Designers, Testers – anyone who is creating artifacts that should be version controlled and/or shared amongst a team.

Requirements:

A laptop; can be any OS, with Git pre-installed and a GitHub account (detailed instructions). If you don’t have a laptop you will be able to pair with someone else who does.
