Far too often, despite all our best efforts to follow the tenets of ‘best practice’ we regularly find ourselves working with CSS on large sites that is unmaintainable, brittle, and hard for other team members to understand.
However, there are some important choices and approaches that we can make that will quickly get us producing flexible and manageable styles for our projects.
This session will guide the audience through the process of identifying and debugging patterns that can be abstracted out into more modular CSS, encouraging re-use, faster development and more performant code.
- Identify the problems with CSS and where we’re going wrong
- Isolating patterns and creating more modular CSS
- Steps to avoid creating brittle code on large sites
- Creating a ‘bootstrap’ style guide for your site
