The roller-coaster experience of OLX in Scaling Agile Culture: from a single small team to the entire company.

This is a story of learning and growing of an Internet Company that requires to survive in a highly competitive business, highly evolving technology and more and more demanding users.

OLX – based in Buenos Aires with investment from the South Africa’s Naspers- is one of the biggest Internet platforms in the world. With more than 200 million monthly active users.

In this session I share with you the story of a company that scaled the agile mindset and agile culture from a small team to the entire company.

In this journey we learnt from experimenting with different teams structure, communication channels and development processes. While, at the same time the business context did not stop evolving and aiming to meet challenging business goals.

We will go through a different team structures like based on functions, based on software components, based on projects and based on business areas. On the other hand we will explore quarterly plans, centralised vs decentralised prioritisation.

Teams are empowered to choose different ways of working like Scrum with different sprint durations, Kanban, “Scrumban” or a tailored approach.

In every step I share with you our setbacks and what is most important the learnings we had in the process.

Bio of Damian Buonamico:

Damian BuonamicoDamian Buonamico is the Agile Coach Lead for OLX Naspers. Responsible for leading the adoption of Agile Principles and Practices in the organisation in Buenos Aires.

He holds a degree in Information Systems Engineer and Scrum Alliance certifications such as Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), Certified Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
