3… 2… 1… We have Sprint-Off! (LIMITED SPACE)
July 10, 2019 @ 17:30 - 19:30 SAST
Getting new teams to work together is really hard. Is it because there’s so much hype around new Agile teams? Or because there’s such a focus on “doing things right” (or “doing” Agile right), that we forget about the people actually doing the work? Regardless of the reason, before we can change the way people work, we need to focus on the things that are important for teamwork to work!
We believe the key to high-performance teams is creating an intentional culture that respects + embraces diversity – whether it be race, gender, class, culture, age, beliefs, language, skills, background.
We explore the Team Canvas – like a Business Model Canvas for teamwork – covering 9 essential teamwork elements:
· Purpose – Why we are doing what we are doing?
· People & Roles – What are our names, roles, responsibilities?
· Common goals – What do we as a group want to achieve together?
· Personal goals – What do I as an individual want to achieve?
· Team values – What do we really stand for + believe in?
· Needs + expectations – What do each of us need to be successful in a diverse team?
· Rules & Activities – How do we communicate and keep everyone up to date?
· Strengths & Assets – What skills do we have in the team?
· Weaknesses & Risks – What are the weaknesses we have, as an individual and as a team?
We’ll walk through our agenda for team lift-offs, facilitation posters + preparation work required, materials needed, and facilitation tips + tricks. All packaged in a handy pocket guide, that you can use to explore tried + tested techniques for each essential element. You will have the opportunity to practice some of the techniques during the session.
Get ready to lift-off your team in T-minus 3… 2… 1…
Our presenters:
Angie Doyle @doyle_angie
I don’t think I have ever minded change. Over the course of my career, I have shifted from working face-to-face with customers (Business Operations), to articulating what customers need (Business Analysis and Process Engineering), to finding a problem solution fit (Product Development, Product Ownership, Customer Experience Management), to evolving ways to deliver the solution (Agile solution development), to improving collaboration to deliver customer value (Business Agility, Enterprise Agility).
I strive to create delivery focused environments where:
Exceptional performance is the new norm
Individuals and teams share accountability for achieving goals
There are high levels of trust
Conflict is a creative, constructive force
There is clarity on roles and who does what
There is a strong customer-centric focus

I have always enjoyed working with people + teams. Starting out as a Management Consultant in Learning + Development and Agile Consulting, I had exposure to high-performance teams. It is now my goal to work with teams to achieve this. I’m currently working as an Agile Coach for one of the largest banks in South Africa, using my passion for communication, facilitation + visual thinking.
I have founded my own company, Sketching Scrum Master, focusing on visual thinking for teams + companies. I use design, hand sketching + live graphic recording to document important information + assist companies in communicating complex concepts.
