SUMMARY:Teach People How to Live Fully\, and They Will Work Effortlessly
DESCRIPTION:Details\nThis talk is about showing people that high performance and getting what you want in life is no different to maturing in the agile space. The average person will spend 10 years at work\, without relating their work back to their personal life in a manner that seems “safe” to do so\, and there’s no better way to show you how this is “SAFe” to do so\, other than comparing life\, Agile\, and the SAFe Agile frameworks 4 core values. \n5 Main Learning Outcomes \n\nThe 4 SAFE core values\nUnderstanding how to use a tool I call “Agile at home”\, enabling you to use Agile in your everyday life\, not just your work\nWhat it means to align the “fluffy stuff” with the “practical stuff” in business\nUnderstanding why delivering value is a perception of someone else’s expectations\, and how we can fulfill delivering value to ourselves\nUnderstanding examples from short stories that align life to the 12 principles of the Agile Manifesto\n\n\nSpeaker\n\n\n\n\nKeegan Van Der Walt\n\nI am the founder of Adaptive Agile Consulting. A small Agile consulting house of 1\, servicing small clients that do big things. In the Agile space\, I have also helped out data teams at Capitec Bank as a Scrum Master\, double hatting whilst doing my BI Developer work. I am also a Data Lead at the moment\, focused on being the best leader for a data team at JOBJACK\, and I’ve been in data and BI as my core career focus for many years. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP HERE TO JOIN!

SUMMARY:Open Space Workshop Johannesburg
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nJoin us and experience the magic of Open Space\, where every voice can be heard\, and every contribution is valued. Together\, we can explore new ideas\, solve problems\, and create a dynamic event that is both productive and inspiring. \nWhat to Expect\nThe event begins with an introduction to the principles and practices of Open Space. Participants are invited to join in the theme or add their own. In addition\, participants can facilitate the table discussion or they can request a committee member to facilitate. This organic process allows a schedule to form quickly\, almost as if by magic\, with sessions centered around topics that attendees are eager to explore. \nGuiding Principles\nOpen Space operates under a set of guiding principles that provide just enough structure to foster spontaneous and meaningful discussions: \n\nWhoever comes are the right people.\nWhatever happens is the only thing that could have.\nWhenever it starts is the right time.\nWhenever it’s over\, it’s over.\nWherever it happens is the right place.\n\nThe Law of Personal Mobility\nIn addition to these principles\, Open Space includes one law—The Law of Personal Mobility. This law empowers participants to move freely between sessions: “If you find yourself where you can’t learn or contribute\, move yourself to a place where you can.” This encourages individuals to take responsibility for their own learning and engagement. \nWe look forward to welcoming and hosting you! \n\nRSVP HERE TO JOIN!

SUMMARY:Team Coaching Supervision
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nCoaching and mentor coaching have long been recognized as competencies of professional coaches\, but coaching supervision is not as well-known or understood. Coaching supervision is a reflective practice within a collaborative relationship\, one in which the coaching supervisor and coach (supervisee) explore the coach’s work. \nThis is done through a range of approaches\, lenses\, and subjects of inquiry\, all with the aim of bringing about better outcomes for the client\, the system in which the coach is working\, and the coach themself. Coaching supervision is a transformative\, developmental experience that helps to improve the quality of the coach’s work\, their practice\, and the wider profession. \nCoaching supervision is a vital part of a coach’s ongoing professional development. Most professional coaching bodies\, including the International Coaching Federation and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council\, are taking steps to ensure that coaches undertake some form of supervision as part of their ongoing development. By engaging in coaching supervision\, coach’s elevate their own work and the service they provide to their communities. \nJoin us when Erin Randall shares with us this crucial part of development. \nSee you there! \nRSVP here

SUMMARY:Resistance as Opportunity
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nPeople that resist change naturally frustrate product owners and scrum masters. They create decision-making bottlenecks and cause adoption delays. However\, resistance is also human communication. Resistance provides useful data – if its neurological and social root causes are understood. With this insight\, resistance can be re-framed from delivery risk\, to opportunity. \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nUnderstanding the social-neurological root causes of resistance\, as informed by David Rock’s SCARF model.\nExploring where these root causes may manifest with different stakeholder types on change programmes.\nA paradigm shift on resistance – why it is useful\, if not essential in human interaction.\nRick Maurer’s three levels of resistance.\nIdentifying the three levels of resistance at different stages of the change programme life-cycle – and how to respond and adapt.\n\nJoin us for an evening of learning and new insights! \nRSVP here

SUMMARY:JHB - How to Ace Your Scrum Master Interview?
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\nVenue: Online using zoom call \nSession Speaker: Pavel Dabrystki \nAt the start of my Agile career\, it was tough to find an opening for the position of a Scrum Master in South Africa – Agile and Scrum was a new thing. When I was looking for a change in 2013\, LinkedIn had three Scrum Master jobs and none for an Agile Coach. But when I search for Scrum Master jobs today\, LinkedIn has a list of potential opportunities that spans over ten pages. At the same time\, the job market is tougher today – the number of candidates on the market has increased significantly as well. The challenge for job seekers today is how to differentiate oneself from the rest of the crowd. For the past few years\, I have been helping people find new opportunities\, and companies find new candidates. Knowing the process from both sides\, I would like to share the standard points you must have in your CV to land an interview. I will share the typical questions asked in a Scrum Master interview. And we will practice answering these questions in groups. Perhaps\, this workshop is a small nudge that will help you land your next dream position. Join me to learn more! \nLearning Outcome:\n1) How to Improve Your CV\n2) Understand the Skills companies are looking for\n3) Prepare for the interviews \nAbout Pavel:\nPavel is a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST©) based in Johannesburg\, South Africa. He was born in Belarus but in 2009\, dislike of harsh winters and an adventurous spirit brought him first to Cape Town then to Johannesburg. He helps organizations implement Agile sustainably through mentoring\, training\, and coaching. Over the past several years\, Pavel has worked with major financial organizations\, retail giants\, and telecommunication companies to improve their organizational processes. He also helped organize multiple Regional Scrum Gatherings in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Pavel is a seasoned presenter who has spoken at events in Paris\, Prague\, Shanghai\, Bangalore\, Atlanta\, New York\, Singapore\, New Jersey and Orlando\, as well as in South Africa. Currently\, he explores topics on coaching psychology and financial models behind Agile projects. \nWe’ll open the zoom room at about 17h45 so that we provide some time to sort out teething problems\, app downloads and other technical glitches… and then we’ll start proceedings at 18h00.
