Some news from SUGSA!
We have some exciting news for you! As a new committee, we have been putting some thinking behind how we can best serve you, the growing Agile community in South Africa, in 2020.
This year we will be embracing simplicity and using this as a slogan to help guide us with everything that we do and plan. Especially in these times, we want to focus more on what is important, keeping things simple and where we can best create value. It has helped us decide a few things which have led to some changes in how we usually work.
Firstly, part of the changes that will be happening is that the SUGSA committee member commitment will now run from mid-year to mid-year instead of from the start of each calendar year. This allows the new committee more time to plan without the pressure of wrapping up the end of each year. In order to make this change, the current committee will need to be in place until June 2021.
Secondly, the conference that we organise each year, the much anticipated Regional Scrum Gathering or SGZA which usually takes place at the end of each year will now be taking place on 25-26 February 2021 at Lagoon Beach in Cape Town. Moving the conference to the beginning of the year will help accommodate the new committee team and is also a more preferable time of year in terms of planning, timing with other conferences and sponsorship. So book those dates in your diary and keep watching this space for more information on sponsorship opportunities and our call for papers.
Finally, one of the most valuable aspects of this community is the ability to network, share and grow together. We’d like to provide an online space for you to interact with us on the committee, meet other agilists, and gain and share knowledge. We’re going to do this in the form of an online SUGSA Slack community. As with all of our spaces, this community will be governed by a Code of Conduct which you can find here.
